How much water does your body really need?

How Much Water Should You Drink Daily?

This simple question sparks many debates — is it 2 liters, 2.5 liters, or even 3 liters? Often, these are just pointless arguments among nutritionists. The truth is: calculating your daily water needs is quite straightforward.

The Correct Calculation Based on Living Plant-Based Food

Let's use the proportions of fresh, unprocessed plant foods as a basis. Fruits and vegetables typically consist of about 25% dry matter and 75% water. These ratios should also be considered in the calculation.

Imagine you consume 1 kg of cooked, fully dehydrated food daily. In raw, living food, this would mean: it corresponds to roughly a quarter of the total weight — so 25%. From this, it follows that the remaining 75% is water, which you should drink. This amounts to approximately 3 liters of water per day.

However, there's a caveat:
Cooked foods usually contain salt, which isn't present in natural foods. This salt binds some of the water in your body. Therefore, it's advisable to add an extra half-liter of water — just to be safe.

In short:
If you consume 1 kg of cooked food daily, you should drink about 3.5 liters of water.

How to Properly Consume Water in Daily Life

If you follow a traditional diet with lots of cooked and processed foods, no tricks can protect you from internal poisoning and self-destruction. Over time, this leads to chronic illnesses and constant treatment in clinics and doctors' offices.

But proper hydration can help slow down and mitigate the process of self-destruction caused by poor nutrition.

Four Tibetan rules for optimal water balance:

1️⃣ Half a liter of water immediately after waking up — activates internal organs and stimulates metabolism.
2️⃣ Half a liter of water half an hour before each meal — improves digestion and nutrient absorption.
3️⃣ Half a liter of water before bathing — helps lower blood pressure and relaxes the body.
4️⃣ Half a liter of water before sleep — reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks, as well as nighttime leg cramps.

  • Additionally, it’s recommended to drink about one liter of freshly pressed fruit juice throughout the day.
  • Instead of only drinking water every day, you can also eat half a kilogram of fresh vegetable salad — which provides fluids and essential nutrients.

What if you don’t like drinking large amounts of water?
Then it’s advisable to change your diet: instead of processed foods, incorporate more lively plant-based foods! These naturally contain plenty of water and support your body in a healthy way.

Conclusion:
Water is essential for our health. It supports all vital processes in the body — from transporting nutrients to detoxification. With proper drinking habits, we can actively promote our health and prevent chronic diseases.

Pay attention to your fluid intake — your body will thank you!
